Trying new creative endeavors challenges me. As a result I tend to flit from one creative avenue to another. This process or habit of mine has been good and bad. It is a "jack of all trades, master of none" scenario. </p><p>Going down the Art Journal/Junk Journal rabbit hole is fulfilling on many levels. I can use artwork that I didn't consider framing because it was a random creation from my "flitting about trying new things" habit. </p><p>These are some pages from an Art Journal I am currently working on. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy0vtfOisD9LSK8ciqeCPZ0GL0eJTJZ7lmvuFl3v-M_LbqgzqXtWeLK59ggEronaQuBu917ELHNtW_iNPaZ8n2MYVYudVOpEnV5HpsQGkAwJyeZdOa05Or2JpX0h7nrmPEagvfltprZjzKu60YwRz_GtjCobSyrG2iJD77bytx6dzlj_VgDpe6yHcx0lg/s3653/20240109_054651.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2595" data-original-width="3653" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy0vtfOisD9LSK8ciqeCPZ0GL0eJTJZ7lmvuFl3v-M_LbqgzqXtWeLK59ggEronaQuBu917ELHNtW_iNPaZ8n2MYVYudVOpEnV5HpsQGkAwJyeZdOa05Or2JpX0h7nrmPEagvfltprZjzKu60YwRz_GtjCobSyrG2iJD77bytx6dzlj_VgDpe6yHcx0lg/s320/20240109_054651.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>The page on the right is original artwork by me. I really love the botanical watercolor paintings on animal vellum. They have such a soft look. </p><p>This is one of my favorite botanical artists.</p><p><a href="https://www.botanicalart-online.com/" target="_blank">Dianne Sutherland </a> </p><p>Check out her website.</p><p>The goat skin vellum is expensive to me but I received some as a Mother's Day gift! Yay!</p><p>I tested a few things on a small piece. There is definitely a right side and wrong side. The side where the hair pores are is the right side to paint on. The paint lays on the surface so a very dry brush has to be used. It also has to be painted in layers. Here is my first attempt. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheooDRFk6_q9gj8mVjXgI6uZBKktfJN1qa4IKAPDXtC5t2fhbJTNPSXlmkn1YNxKirfi3uRLFzadgLc2PRhY0qX4a3pFkbxYXy233KCcYYhjkGtfTnWz92xCsvRZ_7kd7nbHB4kr0J2d5hNPuuG0rE_Lt3-QkG8Udz47J8gqZ_8GxWyFr5LpHF3J6A/s1730/20230518_071859.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1730" data-original-width="1102" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheooDRFk6_q9gj8mVjXgI6uZBKktfJN1qa4IKAPDXtC5t2fhbJTNPSXlmkn1YNxKirfi3uRLFzadgLc2PRhY0qX4a3pFkbxYXy233KCcYYhjkGtfTnWz92xCsvRZ_7kd7nbHB4kr0J2d5hNPuuG0rE_Lt3-QkG8Udz47J8gqZ_8GxWyFr5LpHF3J6A/s320/20230518_071859.jpg" width="204" /></a></div><br /><p>I am happy with it. It is also fairly easy to lift up areas that you want to redo. 🤪 You also can't use too much water or it buckles. </p><p>I have more vellum to play with! I love my kids! </p><p><br /></p>Marian Hertzoghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17906522330985585317noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7777687416385693437.post-17648761831459126332023-05-01T14:28:00.002-07:002023-05-18T08:03:52.041-07:00Comparing Paints!<p>Comparing paints. Dr. pH Martin Hydrus Watercolors and Derwent Inktense color blocks.</p><p>I have been painting with Dr. Ph Martin Hydrous watercolors lately. I love that they are more permanent than the Daniel Smith tube watercolors that I have and do love. You can buy them on Amazon.</p><p>There are 3 color sets. The biggest difference in using them is that they are staining and you can't lift or rework like you can with the Daniel Smith tube paints. They also have a white that makes life easier. </p><p>I wanted to compare them to the Derwent Inktense paints that I have used in the past. They are also more staining and colorfast compared to regular watercolors. I'm not worried about my paintings lasting for years! Hahaha! I do like that you can't change the first layer because of the "staining" or more permanent color and because I paint greeting cards which get handled and not always framed.</p><p>They are also available on Amazon.</p><p>So I painted two similar yellow poppies. The one on the left is painted with Derwent Inktense. The flower on the right with Dr. pH Martin hydrus watercolor paints.</p><p>They were similar to work with. The Derwent Inktense paints are more permanent with no time to rework. The Dr.pH Martin paints are a bit more forgiving. I like them both. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPCvRPeRUVYbTqODFRIjfHiWHEcFMhLCvPtHdWd8xyd0lvHH5jk_M9Bfro4HutcoUp5Ul-51RqecWSsSFKr7CXg9ANovxKLe09xawv-1rtqjx47N7PqB6x89oaDnVKsxrczQPezK3YJ_5m0y6i2XjUJed7s69sdpog7kMOdGMZc2Blp70t_cMLBCjC/s2702/20230501_163855.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2434" data-original-width="2702" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPCvRPeRUVYbTqODFRIjfHiWHEcFMhLCvPtHdWd8xyd0lvHH5jk_M9Bfro4HutcoUp5Ul-51RqecWSsSFKr7CXg9ANovxKLe09xawv-1rtqjx47N7PqB6x89oaDnVKsxrczQPezK3YJ_5m0y6i2XjUJed7s69sdpog7kMOdGMZc2Blp70t_cMLBCjC/s320/20230501_163855.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Derwent Inktense. Dr.pH Martin.<div><br /></div><div>Now I want to get my Derwent Inktense pencils out because I have a set of 72 colors in the pencils. I do wish the Dr. pH Martins had more colors. They have 36 colors available. I do mix colors but it's nice to have a "for sure" color match sometimes. </div><div><br /></div><div>These work for me because I do smaller work and greeting cards. A 5x7 card is the most common size for me. And often I will do miniature work. </div><div><br /></div><div>I enjoy painting with all three watercolor mediums. Don't get discouraged if you purchased either the Derwent Inktense or Dr. pH Martin Hydrus Watercolors. Try smaller paintings and keep at it. You can also use all of them together. The permanent paints are great for a soft background that won't lift when painted over with regular watercolors. <br /><p>Back to painting... after I find my Derwent Inktense pencils! Hmmm.</p></div>Marian Hertzoghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17906522330985585317noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7777687416385693437.post-56134221336872794572023-01-10T06:56:00.000-08:002023-01-10T06:56:04.281-08:00Histamine Intolerance <p><br /></p><p dir="ltr">I have been struggling with an extremely itchy rash that moves around my torso and legs since July. My doctor put me on prednisone for 5 days. It went away but came back in a few days with a vengeance. </p><p dir="ltr">My doctor was concerned and thought I should have a biopsy done. He sent me to a dermatologist who couldn't see me until May of 2023. Through a series of events I was able to get into a doctor in the dermatologist office who does surgery and knows about skin conditions.</p><p dir="ltr"> He said it was a histamine rash and put me on a 28 day regimen of prednisone and told me to take Zyrtec and Allegra as well as Pepcid which is an antihistamine. The rash subsidided considerably but I could tell it was still there. </p><p dir="ltr">In the mean time I was researching possible causes. It seemed to be related to what I eat but I couldn't pin down a particular food. I also have other mild allergy symptoms that I ignored because I have always had congestion of some sort. I thought it was genetic. I came across Histamine Intolerance on the internet.</p><p dir="ltr">I was trying to maintain a low histamine diet for about a week before the prednisone would be done. I was concerned about the rash coming back. It is so uncomfortable. </p><p dir="ltr">There is conflicting information about what foods are low histamine. I found a low histamine food list here:</p><p dir="ltr">https://www.histaminintoleranz.ch/downloads/SIGHI-Leaflet_HistamineEliminationDiet.pdf</p><p dir="ltr">And a blog that has some great recipes here:</p><p dir="ltr">https://www.throughthefibrofog.com</p><p dir="ltr">One that I recently tried is Nomato Sauce. Made from carrots and beets.... it amazingly tastes and looks like tomato sauce. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTH16RQqGCg6jaNIgezc-DNvNnPf_XKxJYsjNKKLDYuEkhvumY55_7OpfC2l3vF4dZiV6t6jqcezF9TjJ6OAe1g75F7aUAnY_vYjxIFZ6a2Qr7Khr67bvOWTGK7JcSeSi3VfnCVc_jwy1m9F-laj8fFevDhanA0cREvp4M2elmdOT8vHDs6HBDMmLS/s2173/20230107_164407.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2124" data-original-width="2173" height="313" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTH16RQqGCg6jaNIgezc-DNvNnPf_XKxJYsjNKKLDYuEkhvumY55_7OpfC2l3vF4dZiV6t6jqcezF9TjJ6OAe1g75F7aUAnY_vYjxIFZ6a2Qr7Khr67bvOWTGK7JcSeSi3VfnCVc_jwy1m9F-laj8fFevDhanA0cREvp4M2elmdOT8vHDs6HBDMmLS/s320/20230107_164407.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p dir="ltr">I have found several low histamine accounts on Instagram and Pinterest. However many of the recipes aren't low histamine if I am looking at the SIGHI list.</p><p dir="ltr">Of course main stream medical practioners are not familiar with Histamine Intolerance. My doctor was willing to look up a suggested enzyme supplement to take before eating known histamine foods. It is called diamine oxidase or DAO. He said if it works he didn't think it would hurt. </p><p dir="ltr">So my saga continues. I am currently trying to stay with low histamine eating and taking the DAO if I am not sure what is in food while eating away from home. I am also taking Allegra, Zyrtec and Pepcid daily. I have not had the rash flare up like it did before. I do still feel some itchiness and think I am keeping it under control to a point. </p><p dir="ltr">In addition to the histamine issue I also am lactose intolerant. Interesting that both are from enzymes that my body is not producing adequately. </p><p dir="ltr">I am going to try some "gut healing" supplements from a company called Silver Fern Brand. I will keep you posted on how that turns out. </p><p dir="ltr"> The reason I wanted to blog about this was my amazement at the Nomato Sauce recipe. I never thought beets and carrots could tastes like tomatoes! </p><p dir="ltr">After thinking about it I wanted to share my experience because there is not much information out there and it is often conflicting. It seems that each person may react differently to different foods. </p><p dir="ltr">I am cautiously trying some higher histamine foods after taking the DAO enzyme. I can feel the itchiness level rise sometimes but it hasn't come back with a vengeance. </p><p dir="ltr">I have always enjoyed fermented and pickled food which are very high in histamine. Aged meats and cheeses are a "no". Beans, boullion broth and some spices are high histamine so my favorite soups are off the list for now. Also food should be frozen or eaten within 24 hours of making it. It has not been easy but neither is having the rash. </p><p dir="ltr">I would love to hear from anyone else who might be going down this same rabbit hole! </p>Marian Hertzoghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17906522330985585317noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7777687416385693437.post-70413781136786488202022-12-01T09:13:00.000-08:002022-12-01T09:13:06.955-08:00Tis the Season!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">My wish for you this Holiday Season!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEAjQEzH-dP3rB-66Lgy0cWEUwl5_do6ELEQ6TtpMk2D_oiaO9eo4eIPAIRtf1X_WAAOOfRQ_EA9Svpl2y-c40aaSRuBLQ9E-btbxehuSra9UbkKZzmtGcJa_b36QQPzFUOVabV5V6nzgVA7-5ersHzAW4PHLkxSwnCUdgk0p491cgiSdOAEZM1Fyq/s3202/20221130_163016.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3202" data-original-width="2230" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEAjQEzH-dP3rB-66Lgy0cWEUwl5_do6ELEQ6TtpMk2D_oiaO9eo4eIPAIRtf1X_WAAOOfRQ_EA9Svpl2y-c40aaSRuBLQ9E-btbxehuSra9UbkKZzmtGcJa_b36QQPzFUOVabV5V6nzgVA7-5ersHzAW4PHLkxSwnCUdgk0p491cgiSdOAEZM1Fyq/s320/20221130_163016.jpg" width="223" /></a></div><br /> I have been busy creating and painting and having fun!<p>You can find my art at <a href="https://nanticokeriverartscouncil.org/">Gallery 107 in Seaford Delaware</a>. We are soup lovers. This soup base is also a life saving "zero point" food when following Weight Watchers. Healthy, low in calories and delicious! I start all broth based soup with the following:</p><p>5 to 6 cups water<br /></p><p>5 to 6 tsp Better than Boullion Base</p><p>3 carrots sliced</p>
<span style="font-size: 17px;">3 stalks of celery chopped</span><div><br />
<span style="font-size: 17px;">1 medium to large onion chopped</span></div><div><br />
<span style="font-size: 17px;">1 Tbsp minced garlic</span></div><div><br /><div>2 bay leaves (I break them up and put them in a tea ball so I can find them after cooking)</div><div><br /></div><div>This base can become many different kinds of soup. The Better Than Boullion comes in several flavors. You can learn about Better Than Boullion <a href="http://www.betterthanboullion.com" target="_blank">here.</a> For soup I use the chicken or beef flavor. </div></div><div><br /></div><div>I use my crockpot for soup. I can get it started in the morning (I am definitely a morning person) and it makes the house smell wonderful all day! </div><div><br /></div><div>For a Southwest Soup</div><div><br /></div><div>Ingredients </div><div><br /></div><div>1-2 lbs of chicken breast cut in bite size pieces</div><div> I prefer breast tenderloin</div><div><div><br /></div><div>Prepare broth recipe above using Chicken Boullion </div><div><br /></div><div>Add:</div><div><br /></div><div>Any color pepper chopped 1 inch pieces 1 cup</div><div>2 cans petite diced tomatoes</div><div>1 can pinto beans drained and rinsed</div><div>1 can navy beans drained and rinsed</div><div>1 can hot rotel tomatoes </div><div>1.5 to 2 cups frozen corn</div><div>1.5 to 2 cups frozen chopped spinach (added at the end to get warm)</div><div>The corn and spinach are optional. I travel from clay to wool to painting and back there again.</p><p>This summer has been a visit to my first love. Watercolor painting. I found a wonderful artist on YouTube who inspired me to do some mixed media watercolors with doodles and metallic paints. Her name is Ceecee. Her web page is <a href="http://creationsceecee.com" target="_blank">here</a></p><p>It is called Creations Cee Cee. If you watch her YouTube videos or look at her Instagram account you will see the inspiration pieces I used to do my paintings.</p><p>The paintings I have painted are below. Watercolors with pens and metallics with words and scripture. These are in 8x10 mats. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDhosp6WMC9tCWAxlBm2oTCnODDVXAI5t7pgXNhF-MSl06ig2INPnAOcromyHhycY39-jQEKYDdxStkoa8JbsyInvaMpAQsCG0GMhWbWHx0neUZLD_EzOfMkwv5d4cG98s7p4jIBdU-7M/s2048/20210813_182608.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1704" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDhosp6WMC9tCWAxlBm2oTCnODDVXAI5t7pgXNhF-MSl06ig2INPnAOcromyHhycY39-jQEKYDdxStkoa8JbsyInvaMpAQsCG0GMhWbWHx0neUZLD_EzOfMkwv5d4cG98s7p4jIBdU-7M/s320/20210813_182608.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>This is the first one I did. I let the paint mix together on it's own with some salt sprinkles for some texture. I bought some metallic watercolor paints from Amazon that are quite fun. They don't show well on these photos. Using pens and colored pencils to add details is fun and relaxing. </div><div><br /></div><div>Pinterest is my friend of course too. I love the unusual words I can find there. </div><div><br /></div><div>The best part is that because of these paintings we have started a neighborhood paint night. It is fun to share and get together. </div><div><br /></div>Marian Hertzoghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17906522330985585317noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7777687416385693437.post-32009655042011044962020-10-02T09:20:00.000-07:002020-10-02T09:20:21.958-07:00A Copy For Me<p>So many time I create gifts. I enjoy making them and love that I have made someone smile or enjoy something that I have spent time creating. A few days ago I decided to create something just for me!</p><p> I have admired Jill Harrison's needle felted creativity for a few years. Her work has a mystic quality to me. She is an amazing artist. You can see her web site and shop <a href="https://jill-harrison.webs.com/">here.</a></p><p>One of my favorite fall pictures that she has done is this one that you can find <a href="https://jill-harrison.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=206097725" target="_blank">on her website here.</a></p><p><br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPETyRJ6xDgJLI3qskj7JSeZk0GfcuKoWRnZ6gReGK_iBSU8t6VWtCGgABPM_TWoiJXwdU6fSXileetAHkzBzLzceDrBk6pC6XsjxBD5Eog5GUxWLal5iVGGPN6d8PkSYQ78vToB3l_uQ/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="206" data-original-width="206" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPETyRJ6xDgJLI3qskj7JSeZk0GfcuKoWRnZ6gReGK_iBSU8t6VWtCGgABPM_TWoiJXwdU6fSXileetAHkzBzLzceDrBk6pC6XsjxBD5Eog5GUxWLal5iVGGPN6d8PkSYQ78vToB3l_uQ/" width="240" /></a></div><br /><br /><p></p><p>So I decided to try something similar. Just for me!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFTJrbjPJYpSS2FgMzX4gJ__wkk3s5vBmrES-O1GfL6sCD2sM5oJmVge1epLv-XmfS9PTpOOuKch2bGcMDBBvbibdfAZ3HUYOmrm2ZXJl5WfgFeK8Dz6VScmr1_qMG-TdTBlmLgDKCqTM/s1421/thumbnail+%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1421" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFTJrbjPJYpSS2FgMzX4gJ__wkk3s5vBmrES-O1GfL6sCD2sM5oJmVge1epLv-XmfS9PTpOOuKch2bGcMDBBvbibdfAZ3HUYOmrm2ZXJl5WfgFeK8Dz6VScmr1_qMG-TdTBlmLgDKCqTM/s320/thumbnail+%25281%2529.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p>I am pleased with it. It certainly does not have the ethereal quality that Jill's work has but it evokes a feeling of autumn and cooler weather for me. This is my favorite season of the year. I enjoyed school starting as a child and the relief from the hot summer days. There is also much fun to be had in the coming months! </p><p>Even though I tried to duplicate her picture, it took on a life of it's own. It is very similar in content but so different in color and feel. I will enjoy it with my fall decorations!</p><p>You really should check out Jill's work on the links above. Her portraits are stunning... all of her work is stunning!</p><p>Happy Fall!</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Marian Hertzoghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17906522330985585317noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7777687416385693437.post-18147719074941351922020-03-09T17:13:00.001-07:002020-03-09T17:14:54.489-07:00Mixed MediaI've been painting with Arteza Real Brush Pens, Inktense pencils, Maimeri watercolors, Schmincke watercolors, gauche and Sharpies. Mixing them up and trying different things.<br /><br />
<br />
I want to try minimalist painting but I find I can't stop. I need to be more disciplined and plan ahead. That's hard for me to do with creating anything. I like to follow my muse.<br />
<br />
These paintings have a little bit of everything in them. It actually makes it more interesting to work in different mediums.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji3FrHkRh9LxL281Liou0cgVMO5M64MmC8YqeXNBGEgSzXdBqg8efyS0rh87GlHeBNvgt8ZjkTWkW28SmAinNB39jWmGjtaZmcGN7YGEOO8FbkINnE-Z3RMRbRdMKW2LEm4Wd7trmGCTE/s1600/20200309_161911.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1093" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji3FrHkRh9LxL281Liou0cgVMO5M64MmC8YqeXNBGEgSzXdBqg8efyS0rh87GlHeBNvgt8ZjkTWkW28SmAinNB39jWmGjtaZmcGN7YGEOO8FbkINnE-Z3RMRbRdMKW2LEm4Wd7trmGCTE/s320/20200309_161911.jpg" width="218" /></a></div>
I definitely got carried away with details on this woodpecker.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTK_WDnK82HRz7ZoCrWVMBqfVWCoDoHiQZQ4OrCYiuk8VpqLYkOb6MSDo7EERhboNGq94O48Wm0S4iIeErVdCJD3hI9Xiqz8rDsGcOXphU7MyVAIioDHM4Dd5TqbXSyUX-VqNIonV4ytQ/s1600/20200309_161929.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1279" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTK_WDnK82HRz7ZoCrWVMBqfVWCoDoHiQZQ4OrCYiuk8VpqLYkOb6MSDo7EERhboNGq94O48Wm0S4iIeErVdCJD3hI9Xiqz8rDsGcOXphU7MyVAIioDHM4Dd5TqbXSyUX-VqNIonV4ytQ/s320/20200309_161929.jpg" width="255" /></a></div>
This owl has a little looseness going on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6SBh43H6KY38s0qNRlDBWYpH26_lX8vzgnqup-O25oDucPFZ6q86VCUc1EIimZnXWVndX3kH_gam5-8EDjTf2JkNBedrDRkb0WVMPwUFRolC8IlppJUVKUTd7ZVpvTCgisIrBjSxXyW4/s1600/20200309_162020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1137" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6SBh43H6KY38s0qNRlDBWYpH26_lX8vzgnqup-O25oDucPFZ6q86VCUc1EIimZnXWVndX3kH_gam5-8EDjTf2JkNBedrDRkb0WVMPwUFRolC8IlppJUVKUTd7ZVpvTCgisIrBjSxXyW4/s320/20200309_162020.jpg" width="227" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This chickadee is a combination of detail and some less defining brush strokes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Practice helps. There are so many variables with water based mediums. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I need to do more research. You will find me on Pinterest! Talk about being disciplined. I can spend a day there easily!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It took me a few redos but I ended up with this guy. He seems right at home in that bush.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTktXpJ7H9MoF2QiGd38XzWNEuBD0zEeh9eZmLheBJjjirBvy37dB_WQKsRH7JGu9xU2QAKjMjKByMWlonH6MGl-Qk7yb0ZfairhP8ooFzZLIu9PlcQyuDSiLKtALUYKLkRVWvUZY5MBU/s1600/20200223_090417.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="840" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTktXpJ7H9MoF2QiGd38XzWNEuBD0zEeh9eZmLheBJjjirBvy37dB_WQKsRH7JGu9xU2QAKjMjKByMWlonH6MGl-Qk7yb0ZfairhP8ooFzZLIu9PlcQyuDSiLKtALUYKLkRVWvUZY5MBU/s320/20200223_090417.jpg" width="167" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Making two things the same are always a challenge for me. The eyes and feet were redone a few times. So much to learn! Owls are magnificent creatures!</div>

My interest in creating a flat felted picture increased as I perused Pinterest. Who came up with that addictive site? I have a love-hate relationship there. Love looking at it... hate the time consumed by getting lost in wonderful inspirations!<br />
I used this pin photo as my inspiration. I love the sandhill cranes.<br />

I didn't have any wool flat felt to use as a base so I purchased a few "felt" pieces from Hobby Lobby. They are very thin so I folded it in half. I have mostly wool roving in my stash. It was easy to use on the background.<br />

After getting most of the picture felted I decided I didn't like the background. I had to work with it but I was able to pull enough of it up to change the background to what I wanted. I felted over most of the yellow. It covers well and I did let some show through.</div>

Painting and drawing have been my peaceful place since I was a teen. I started needle felting about 5 years ago. This works for me because I get bored with one medium and move to the next.<br />
<br />
Needle felting has become my obsession this year because Fall and Christmas decorations are so beautiful in needle felting.<br />
<br />
I have made and collected Santas for many years. I enjoy making needle felted Santas but the eyes are a bit of a challenge. This year I decided to mix my hobbies together. I made polymer clay eyes for my Santas and gnomes.<br />

Fits right in with today's decor. Hard to believe they can do that. Well if they can, so can I!<br />

I love the rich fall colors and textures.<br />
<br />
However, I needed a break from that so I created some Seaside Villages. Fall at the beach is my favorite time to be there. We live in Delaware and can get to the ocean in a short drive.<br />
<br />
These miniature villages aren't what we have here... more like something found in the summer romance novels across the pond.<br />

My grandson collected acorns, seeds and some colored leaves yesterday.<br />
<br />
It will get warm again but I'm in the groove for the next season. We had a good hot summer here in Delaware. Time to move on....<br />
<br />
I've been doing lots of fun things and they are finally coming together.<br />
Needle felting, hand dying old linens and having fun with polymer clay!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Amazon had a small starter set here:<br />

The colors are amazing!<br />

It's been fun to paint with watercolors again. And I do think you get what you pay for!<br />

Trying something new is always enticing to me. I came across an ad for Arteza Real Brush paints. They are an ink brush pen. Very different from watercolors and Derwent inktense pencils.<br />
<a href="https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiG5_D6uNXgAhUFQYYKHcv9AbwYABAAGgJ2dQ&ae=1&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESEeD2uHkiPPbSJacJ6XtxKz6-&sig=AOD64_073YUIMygm4q1oeJ32hztCIFKBEg&q&adurl=https://arteza.com/collections/arteza-collections/products/24-real-brush-pens-6-water-brush-pens-and-woodless-watercolor-pencils?gclid%3DCjwKCAiAnsnjBRB6EiwATkM1Xq9YTaqKf3IH3bqcqg6ArNCKrAz74A7iUHcoiCTVrLaHPbYrdg-7MRoCQegQAvD_BwE&ved=2ahUKEwjeven6uNXgAhXCpFkKHVB8B8wQ0Qx6BAgOEAE">Arteza </a> Real Brush pens are fun to use and it takes some play time to use them for realistic art work. They can be used for coloring without too much practice. <br />
<br />
This sandhill crane was created with the Arteza brush pens only.<br />
<br />

It's fun to try new art tools. I almost didn't finish this painting a few times. Glad I persisted and was able to have alternative mediums to get the look I wanted. </div>

We had so much fun! What happens in Florida stays in Florida so I am not going to share about our three months there enjoying the beach, the wildlife, and the shopping! You can think what you want about what I am referring to as the wildlife... I will say it all happens before 9pm... It is soooo beautiful in Sebastian!<br />

This fabric was painted with Derwent Inktense pencils using aloe vera gel. The colors did fade some after washing it in water. I was experimenting!</div>

Now that we are back in Delaware I am ready to get back to making with polymer clay. I have been thinking about fairies and so want to create one. I always tell folks that they are invisible because I haven't made one that I am happy with! When I do I will share it with you!</div>

Of course only if you believe in that sort of thing. Since I believe that there is so much that we don't see that is really around us, I have been working on making fairy things <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/527796786/blue-magical-mushroom?ref=shop_home_active_1">like this magical mushroom!</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjCHgJI-ixxWQa6-NLKC6E2iqjvb_oybus8W5l8hnZA0dn5Nz5J4nOvudpQ7AcTKoL5OOpigfegbrQXOGk2SklGcrit0zQmWWL2WecNzObsOaL7q5wkf56rGirAu8kiYEKt6PHtqTrCUM/s1600/DSC01438+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1370" data-original-width="1600" height="274" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjCHgJI-ixxWQa6-NLKC6E2iqjvb_oybus8W5l8hnZA0dn5Nz5J4nOvudpQ7AcTKoL5OOpigfegbrQXOGk2SklGcrit0zQmWWL2WecNzObsOaL7q5wkf56rGirAu8kiYEKt6PHtqTrCUM/s320/DSC01438+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
Of course you may think <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/541601209/magical-mushroom?ref=listing-shop-header-1">that a red mushroom seems more magical!</a><br />
